That the WC system is “dead,” and WC is no longer available, or benefits have been taken away from injured workers.

Reality:

The WC system in alive and well in OK and is still here to help injured workers in OK; however, the WC is incredibly complex.

What are your rights:

You have the right to have a lawyer fighting for you and your family in this difficult time.

You have the right to get medical treatment for each of the parts of your body hurt in the accident.

You have the right to get a “second opinion” on each of the parts of your body hurt in the accident.

You have the right to get weekly TTD (temporary disability) checks while you are off work treating for your injuries.

You have the right to be reimbursed for any out-of-pocket expenses related to medical treatment for your injuries.

When you case is all over, you are entitled to monetary compensation for your permanent disability received because of the injury.

In some cases, you can even keep your medical treatment open after your case is over.

You have a right to your day in Court!

What you should do if you’re injured on the job:

Immediately stop working.

Immediately report the accident to your supervisor.

Ask to fill out and sign an “accident report.”

Request medical treatment right away.

If appropriate, take pictures of the scene of the accident or the equipment that you were operating when you were injured.

Call me!

What you should NEVER do:

Settle with the insurance company without talking to an attorney first.

Sign ANY documents that the insurance company wants you to sign.

Take any type of legal or medical advice from an insurance company.

NEVER accept “no” as an answer from the insurance company.

Can you “afford” an attorney:

WC attorneys only get paid if you win, and they get back after the case is over separately by the insurance companies.

If you don’t collect, you owe your attorney nothing.

Most important things to remember:

The insurance company is NOT your friend; however, they will pretend to be your friend in the beginning in the hopes that you will not contact any attorney to protect your rights.

The insurance company is NOT looking out for the best interest of your or your family. They are ONLY concerned with their bottom line and keeping as much money for themselves as possible.

The WC system can be very complicated with many potential pitfalls along the way. A lawyer will help you avoid those pitfalls and maximize your recovery.

NEVER sign or accept anything without first talking to a lawyer; remember, the insurance is NOT your friend.

While it is true recent changes to the law have stripped away some long-held benefits, workers’ compensation still provides crucial benefits to injured workers.

Workers’ compensation is incredibly complex and should NOT be navigated by the injured worker without a licensed workers’ compensation attorney to act as his/her advocate, fighting for all possible benefits.

If you have injured on the job, you have several very important rights:

You have the right to have a lawyer fighting for you and your family in this difficult time.

You have the right to get medical treatment for each part of your body hurt in the accident.

You have the right to get a “second opinion” on each of the parts of your body hurt in the accident.

You have the right to get weekly TTD (temporary total disability) checks while you are off work treating for your injuries.

You have the right to be reimbursed for any out-of-pocket expenses related to medical treatment for your injuries.

When you medical treatment is all over, you are entitled to monetary compensation (a settlement) for the permanent disability you suffered because of the injury.

In some cases, you can even keep your medical treatment open after your case is over.

There are many more benefits as well.

Immediately stop working. Continuing to work can only make your injury worse.

Immediately report the accident to your supervisor or person reasonable for safety.

Ask to fill out and sign an “accident report.” This document will memorialize the details of your accident. These details can later be used in Court to help your case if need be.

Request medical treatment right away. Even if it is just a trip to urgent care or the ER, go see a doctor and get checked out. The medical records that come from this first doctor’s visit can also later be used in Court to help your case if need be.

If appropriate, take pictures of the scene of the accident, car you were riding in, or the equipment that you were operating when you were injured. These pictures can be crucial to winning your case.

If appropriate, get the names and phone number of all witnesses to your accident. These witness statements can later be used in Court to win your case.

Once you have completed these initial tasks, immediately contact the attorneys at Oxford Lehr, PLLC at 918-884-6016 for a FREE consultation.

Right to seek compensation: You have the right to pursue compensation for your damages, including medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and more.

Right to a fair settlement: You have the right to a settlement that fairly compensates you for your losses, and insurance companies have a duty to act in good faith when negotiating a settlement.

Right to sue: If the insurance company refuses to offer a fair settlement, you have the right to sue the at-fault driver for damages.

Right to medical treatment: You have the right to receive necessary medical treatment for your injuries, regardless of who was at fault for the accident.

Right to privacy: You have the right to privacy regarding your medical records and other sensitive information related to the accident.

If you don't hire a lawyer after a car accident, you may face several consequences, including:

Settling for less compensation: Insurance companies often try to settle claims quickly and for as little money as possible. Without a lawyer, you may not be aware of your full legal rights and end up settling for far less than your case is worth.

Difficulty navigating the legal system: The legal process for car accident claims can be complex and time-consuming. A lawyer can handle all the paperwork and negotiations, saving you time and stress.

Missed deadlines: There are often strict deadlines for filing claims and other legal documents related to a car accident. If you miss these deadlines, you may lose your right to recover compensation.

Inadequate representation: A skilled lawyer can effectively argue your case, gather evidence, and negotiate a fair settlement. Without a lawyer, you may struggle to effectively advocate for your rights and interests.

In fact, they will pretend to be your friend in the hopes that you will not contact an attorney to protect your rights.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

The insurance company is NOT looking out for the best interest of you or your family. They are ONLY concerned with their “bottom line,” keeping as much money for themselves as possible.

The WC system can be very complicated with many potential pitfalls along the way. The attorneys at Green Country Family Law, LLC will help you avoid those pitfalls and maximize your benefits and the settlement at the end of your case.

NEVER sign or accept anything without first talking to an attorney; remember, the insurance is NOT your friend.

NEVER settle your case without first talking to an attorney. In the vast majority of cases, have an attorney will increase the value of your settlement fair beyond the cost of having an attorney in your case.

NEVER take any type of legal or medical advice from an insurance company – again, they are NOT your friend.

NEVER accept “no” as an answer from the insurance company without talking to us first.
